It wasn't often that a monster such as Tyrantis was found in New Mexico, historically there was little kaiju activity in the area and even fewer accounts of the malicious sort which the giant dinosaur enjoyed fighting. Tyrantis was following a trail, every few miles he would catch a whiff of a putrid stench that spoke books of information of his prey. The monster was flanked by his mate, Tyranta, both doggedly following the odd scent, the female was just as intent on finding the owner as Tyrantis was. The terrain went from flat to rocky as they entered a mountainous area, this made quite a few hiding places for another monster to try and ambush the deadly pair, but very few things could catch a tyrannosaur off guard. It didn't take long until they found the source of the trail. The smell both Tyrantis and his mate were following just seemed to billow out of a gigantic cave which stood in front of them. It was carved right into the mountain and was about twice the height of either reptile as they squinted their eyes to try to see what new horror lay within. Before either giant could take a step forwards and begin exploring the cave, a harsh call drew the eyes of both monsters. Above the cave sat a odd misshapen creature, it was only the size of a human, so small that Tyrantis had to focus on the thing to see the thing. It looked like a hybrid of bat and reptile, a savage light gleaming in it's eyes before the mutant tilted it's head down and wrenched open those twisted jaws. With a sudden retch it threw up a few pints of red goop before taking to the sky and flying away. Tyranta then bent over, taking a quick sniff of the fresh substance, she quickly indemnified the smell as the same that belonged to the cave in front of them. It took no time for her to realize that the little mutant was luring her and Tyrantis by spitting such globs in a line, where they could be easily tracked!

Pulling her head away from the digested blood, the dinosaur gave a sharp growl of warning to her mate right before a heavy boulder soared out from the cave and slammed into her chest, tipping the female over where she hit the ground with a earth shattering thud. Tyranta seemed to be alright though, just gasping for breath as the wind was knocked from those titanic lungs. Roaring in a mix of anger and excitement, Tyrantis moved his body between his wheezing mate and the pitch blackness of the cave, squaring off against the still unseen attacker. For a moment there was complete silence, Tyranta was no longer gasping, her small arms braced against the ground, ready to spring the kaiju's body upright at a moments notice! Breaking the stillness of the tense atmosphere, the low thud of a heavy set foot rung out, echoing through the cave. The steps became louder and louder until a form emerged from the inky blackness. It was a dinosaur, sharing a similar body design to Tyrant pair, though it was warped by mutation and scaring. This new kaiju was clearly of tyrannosaur blood, which brought mixed emotions in the pair. This creature was kin to them, which should have triggered a pack mentality, but there was just something dangerous about this mutant. The beast sat there for a time, eying the by now world renowned saviors. The kaiju opened it's mouth every so slightly to show off the glint of it's diamond fangs, just as the soft skinned edges of it's jaws turned up in a horrible replica of a human's smile. That was all they needed. Tyrantis recoiled backwards before letting loose a bellow that shook the mountain itself, meant as a challenge to any monster who thought they could take the 'king' on. The rival beast, known locally as Terrormaw, responded with a battle roar of his own, but before he could finish, Tyranta leaped from her prone position, using the thick tyranno skull as a battering ram her head connected with the bottom jaw of the kaiju, sending the twisted beast end over tail. This was only the beginning.

Terrormaw rolled his bulk onto his stomach as the fearsome drill-tail began to spin with the giant's anger. He was given very little warning before Tyrantis kicked the monster in the ribs, causing the beast to roll once more before slamming into the side of the cave with enough force to send tiny tremors up the mountain. Working together, Tyrantis placed a foot on the struggling kaiju's back so that Tyranta could open her jaws and bite down on the end of Terrormaw's tail. This action cost the female a few front fangs. When she had a grip her mate let off the monster just in time for Tyranta to wrench her head upwards with great strength before pulling it back down in a whip like motion. This traveled down the rock made tail, slamming Terrormaw against the ground with a resounding crash. Tyranta then let go of the tail, rather proud of the sound thrashing she and her mate gave the odd monster. But as they backed off, a dazed Terrormaw began to rise, shaking his head the tyrannosaur's beady eyes narrowed on his foes.

They stared each other down, Tyrantis flanked his foe's right while Tyranta covered the left, both growling with dangerous intent. Breaking the standoff, Terrormaw whipped his body around, drill like tail spinning at blinding speed as it struck with thunderous force. The only problem with this was the beast was out of range of the other monsters, which confused the hunters for just a moment. Then the tail dipped, swiping through the rocky soil it threw up a massive cloud of dust which blinded all three combatants. Tyrantis roared as he took a step back, unable to see what was going on around him he was unable to attack, not knowing if he was going to hit Tyranta or his true target. Suddenly the tyrannosaur was struck, a blow crashed into his ribcage, sending the monster sprawling out onto the ground. By this time the dust was beginning to settle, giving Tyranta a thin outline, she could not be sure of who it was so she took a gamble and let out a short growl. The veiled form broke into a charge, with lowered head Terrormaw repaid the female for the cheap blow she dealt him at the start of the battle. The tyrannosaur was pitched from the dust cloud only to crash into her mate who was just starting to stand up.

Terrormaw let out a loud howling roar, proclaiming his dominance, just as the powerful wind of the mountain swept the dust away, leaving the battlefield clear once more. Tyranta was quite sick of the poser by this time, she shot an angered glare to her mate as he regained his footing. They both took a deep breath, something that didn't alert Terrormaw at first, since he figured it was just going to be a pathetic display of power. As it turned out he was half right. Tyranta unleashed a roar that nearly toppled the beast to the ground, it took all his strength just to stay standing as the force of the sonic attack ripped lines across his scales. That was when Tyrantis joined in, belching out a stream of flame, his breath weapon mixed with that of his mate to coat the enemy in a bath of fire. Focusing through the pain, Terrormaw turned his jaws on the rock under his feet, devouring a gash in the rock. Tyrantis watched in shock as his flames began to die away, leaving Terrormaw looking a little duller in color, but otherwise not very harmed. The kaiju could only guess it had something to do with his rival eating the stone of the mountain, but he couldn't be sure quite what it was.

Terrormaw rushed forwards with a short growl, his body aimed at Tyranta who was more then ready, the female caught the lowered head with her claws and just managed to force the tyrannosaur down to the ground. Taking this chance, Tyrantis leaned down and sank his fangs into the forearm of Terrormaw as his mate bit down on the other arm. With a sickening pop the pair ripped the limbs from Terrormaw's sockets, causing a stream of red to leak down the giant's body. The wounded monster rose suddenly, his glinting jaws wrapping around his own severed arm, ripping it from Tyranta's grasp so that he could gulp it down himself. The very act discussed the pair, though the logic behind the move was shown seconds later when Terrormaw's left arm sprouted once more from his body. The chaotic dinosaur gave them a mocking smile, to which Tyrantis answered by spitting the other arm onto the ground and incinerating the limb with a gout of flame. This seemed to wipe the grin right from the opposing monster's lips.

Then the battle started up again, Terrormaw lunched forwards and took a chunk out of Tyrantis' chest, reveling in the bloody gore for a second before Tyranta bit into his back. Spinning quickly, Terrormaw managed to dislodge the female just as his spinning tail came around and crashed into her thigh. The blow ripped a good swath of skin from the kaiju's leg, causing her to bellow in pain as she limped backwards to get out of range of that tail in case it came around for a second hit. Terrormaw had to spit out the mound of flesh he cleaved from Tyrantis, otherwise his jaws would be unable to take another damaging bite from either of his attackers. But as he turned he was kicked in the side. It seemed that Tyrantis had leaped at the other tyrannosaur and delivered a solid kick to the monster's ribs, a solid crack was heard as Terrormaw fell to the ground and the heroic Tyrantis snorted with pride. Terrormaw was forced to take a hunk of soil into his jaws again, gulping it down he used the minerals to brace his broken bones and take away the jabbing pain which seem without end. The beast rose once more with a snarl of hate, he was met by a sudden burst of fire, Tyranta was still limping a bit but that didn't mean she wouldn't torch a kaiju if she had half the chance. But unlike before, very little of the monster burned, mostly his scales were just blackened, though it did seem to give the twisted tyrant a little pain. Turning on the female, Terrormaw almost didn't see her mate coming, whipping his drill low he managed to catch Tyrantis in the ankle and break the other kaiju's delicate bone. This was followed by a satisfying yelp from Tyrantis who fell to the ground, unable to stand on the unstable limb. Terrormaw loomed above his fallen foe, jaws open as he went for the killing bite, however he was knocked back by a sudden jab to the stomach, Tyrantis had kicked out with his good leg and sent the monster backwards, right where Tyranta hit the beast with a point-blank roar.

Massive cracks ran down Terrormaw's scales, breaking as if they were glass or even some sort of marble. That was when Tyrantis figured out what Terrormaw did to save himself from the pair's fire, the beast had fused his burning scales with the stone he devoured. Clever. But Tyrantis could be clever to. With a growl he signaled his mate to unleash her fire when he did. At the same time the two tyrannosaurs coated the monster in flames, hearing the beast bellow loudly as his broken defense no longer kept himself from burning. Never letting up they were pouring every ounce of their flame sacks into the death of this thing, afterwards it would no longer haunt them with it's monstrous nature. However, even a beast had friends. From the cave came a massive swarm of human sized monsters, they filled the sky before descending on the tyrannosaurs, cutting and slicing at the eyes and nostrils. Under this new attack, Tyrantis and Tyranta were forced to halt the burning of their newest foe, instead the flailed and bit at the swarm of mutant bats who threatened to eat them alive. While they were busy, a tired Terrormaw rebuilt his armored skin from bits of the mountain, but the flames had melted something he couldn't replace as easily, his eyes. Working off the guidance of the bats the tyrannosaur retreated back into his mountain, favoring his right leg which seemed to have been hurt sometime in the battle. Once inside the darkness he laid down, being tended to by his bats, for the next few days he would be stuck within his cave, at least until his servants brought him enough flesh to regenerate his eyes, then he would stalk once more. And now that he had mapped out the strengths and weaknesses of his most interesting foes, Terrormaw would be able to plan their downfall.

With fire sacks overworked and voices raw, the pair of ancient killers retreated, limping away from the cave, though they were harassed the entire way until the mountain was no longer within sight. Neither could be sure if their foe was still alive, they lost Terrormaw in the chattering swarm of monster bats. Leaning against one another, the predators had an uneasy feeling that this would not be the last time they faced their fellow tyrannosaur…
Ever since me and TT talked about our respective tyrannosaurs, I've been itching to do this battle. Terrormaw needed some villain fleshing out and I could think of no one better then Tyrantis.

The only tribute is the title which is based on 'Of Mice and Men' warped to fit the three fighters here

The battle ends in a kind of draw, neither side are quite fit to continue fighting and both just want to escape to heal up, most likely to battle again at a later date.

Tyranta was tossed in because I like her. She is an awesome kaiju who I see as a perfect match for Tyrantis and I wrote them as a highly effective team, meshing their powers and skills together.

The only thing I cut out was a sceen where Terrormaw uses his drill tail to hammer a rock, flinging the boulder into Tyrantis' jaws, wedging them open. I cut it because frankly there is no place for it.

Whew! That was a blast, but in a way I'm glad it's done.

A draw, but a close one nonetheless. I'm impressed at Terrormaw's power, though. Yeah, the other two T-rexes went postal all over him, but he was outnumbered; he still managed to kick some tail. Quite a cool match, indeed. :D
